“It’s alwayst darkest before the dawn”

So simple yet so true – “it’s always darkest before the dawn.” I think it’s something we all can identify with, no matter the context. Without further deliberations I just want to state the obvious, I freaking A D O R E FLORENCE + THE MACHINE’s latest album Ceremonials.

The song “Shake it Out” feels, to me, like an anthem that encourages embracing new beginnings despite being stuck in a rut. Hence why the title appeals to me. I love how the gospel tunes and African rhythms and stomps accompany the dark lyrics, like some kind of twisted manifesto consisting of pure contrasting metaphors. It’s like Lynch’s “Mulholland Drive”, if it doesn’t give meaning to you, YOU give meaning to it.

Two thumps up.
